Terms of Use
Effective date: 2026-09-13
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your use of thehandymansflive.com (the "Site") and the request service offered by The Handyman SF ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Site, sending a service request, or calling or texting our number, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
The HandymanNow app and the HandymanNow signup pages on this Site are governed by the HandymanNow Terms of Service. Handymen who receive leads by text are also bound by the HandymanNow Lead Texts Terms.
1. What the service is
We connect homeowners with local, independent handymen. When you send a request, we pass it to handymen who work in your area so they can contact you and quote.
- We are not a contractor. We do not perform, supervise, inspect or guarantee any work.
- Handymen are independent. They are not our employees, agents or partners. They set their own prices, schedules and methods.
- Any agreement is between you and the handyman. The scope, price, schedule, payment and warranty of any job are for you and the handyman to agree directly.
- It is free for homeowners. You pay nothing to us for sending a request.
- No guarantee of a response. We cannot promise that a handyman will contact you, be available, or be the right fit.
2. Licensing in California
In California, work that costs $1,000 or more in labor and materials combined, or that needs a building permit, must be done by a contractor licensed by the Contractors State License Board. It is your responsibility to check a person's license, insurance and references before hiring them, for example at cslb.ca.gov. Electrical, gas, plumbing and structural work often needs a licensed contractor and a permit.
3. Your request
When you send a request you agree that:
- the information is accurate and you have the right to share it, including any photos;
- you are at least 18 years old and allowed to arrange work at the property;
- we may share your request and contact details with up to three local handymen, as described in the Privacy Policy; and
- you may be called or texted about your request as described in the consent you gave and in the Text Message Terms.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use the Site or our number to send false requests, spam, advertising, unlawful or abusive content, or someone else's contact details without their permission. Do not try to break, overload or scrape the Site. We may refuse or remove any request.
5. Content on the Site
Information on the Site, including notes about neighborhoods, housing and repairs, is general information, not professional advice. Check anything permit-related with your city before work starts. The Site's text, design and logos belong to us or our licensors.
6. Disclaimers
The Site and the service are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not responsible for the conduct, work, pricing, licensing or insurance of any handyman or homeowner.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from work performed or not performed by a handyman. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site or the service is limited to $100. Some laws do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site, your breach of these Terms, or your dealings with a handyman or homeowner.
9. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court.
10. Changes
We may change these Terms. The effective date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept it.
