When you sign up you tick the regions you work in: San Francisco, the Peninsula, the East Bay, the South Bay and the North Bay. Leads matching those regions and your trades come to you by text. Text later to add or drop a region, and reply STOP whenever you want the texts to end.
Where do these leads come from?
From homeowners who asked for help through The Handyman SF: its website pages for places around the bay, its phone line and its text messages. Once you buy a lead you get that homeowner's contact details and reach out to them yourself.
What is in a lead text?
The kind of job and the area it is in, sent from (415) 449-8213. That is enough to decide whether it fits. If you want it, you buy it through the checkout link, get the homeowner's details, and the two of you agree the price and a time.
Do I need the app to receive leads?
No. Leads come as ordinary text messages once you have signed up. The HandymanNow app adds a second way to work: it is rolling out to everyone on Android now, with iPhone coming soon, and approved profiles can go online in it to receive requests from app users.
What does signing up ask for?
Your name, email, a password and a mobile number that you confirm with a texted code. Then your trades, years of experience, a short bio, your base address and service radius, the regions you work in and a profile photo. Work photos are optional.
