Lead Texts Terms
Effective date: 2026-09-13
These Lead Texts Terms (the "Lead Terms") apply to handymen who receive paid job leads by text message from HandymanNow and The Handyman SF ("we," "us," or "our"), whether you signed up on a HandymanNow page at thehandymansflive.com or by texting our number, (415) 449-8213. They are part of, and should be read with, the Terms of Service, the Independent Handyman Agreement and the Privacy Policy. Jobs you unlock inside the HandymanNow app are governed by the Independent Handyman Agreement; these Lead Terms cover leads offered by text.
1. Who can receive leads
You must be at least 18, run your own independent business, and give accurate information about yourself, your trades and the areas you work in. You are responsible for holding any license, registration and insurance your work requires.
2. How leads work
- An offer by text. When a homeowner asks for help with work that matches your trades and areas, we may text you a short description of the job and its area. An offer does not include the homeowner's contact details.
- The price is shown before you pay. The price of a lead appears in the offer and again on the secure checkout page. You pay only if you complete checkout. Prices can change between offers; the price shown on the checkout page when you pay is the price that applies.
- What you receive. After payment you receive the homeowner's name, phone number, the job details and the address or area the homeowner gave us.
- Payment. Card payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe emails a receipt. We do not see or store your full card number.
3. What a lead is, and is not
- Leads are not exclusive. The same request may be offered to and bought by more than one handyman, up to a limit we set.
- A lead is an introduction, not a job. We do not guarantee that a homeowner will answer, hire you, or pay you. The price, scope and schedule of any work are for you and the homeowner to agree.
- We screen requests but cannot verify them. We use automated and manual checks to keep out spam, but we cannot confirm every detail a homeowner gives us.
4. Refunds
- Paid after the limit was reached. If your payment completes after a lead has already reached its limit, it is refunded automatically to your card.
- Contact details that do not work. If the phone number in a lead is disconnected or belongs to someone else, tell us within 48 hours of buying it by replying to our text or emailing sfthehandyman@gmail.com. We review each report and may refund the fee or give you a replacement lead at our discretion.
- Otherwise, lead fees are non-refundable, including when a homeowner does not respond, chooses someone else, cancels, or the job is smaller or larger than described.
- Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank, so we can look into it.
5. How you use a lead
- Contact the homeowner only about the request in the lead, promptly and professionally, and stop if they ask you to.
- Do not resell, share or publish a lead or the homeowner's information, and do not add the homeowner to any marketing list.
- Follow the law, including California contractor licensing rules: work of $1,000 or more in labor and materials, or that needs a permit, requires a licensed contractor.
- Treat the homeowner's information as confidential and delete it when you no longer need it for that job.
We may stop offering you leads if you break these Lead Terms or if homeowners complain about your conduct.
6. Choosing what you receive
You choose your trades and areas when you sign up. You can change them at any time by texting us what you want to receive. We try to offer only leads that match, but a match is not guaranteed.
7. Text messages
Lead offers are sent as text messages under our Text Message Terms. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop lead texts at any time, START to resume, and HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of signing up or of any purchase.
8. Your information
We use the information you give us — your name, phone number, email, trades, areas, profile details, your consent to texts and the leads you buy — to offer you leads, process payments and keep records, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Relationship
You are an independent business. Nothing in these Lead Terms makes you our employee, agent or partner, and we do not control how you do your work.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Leads are provided "as is." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, and our total liability for any claim relating to a lead is limited to the amount you paid for that lead.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these Lead Terms; the effective date above shows the latest version, and the version in effect when you buy a lead applies to that lead. These Lead Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
