Independent Handyman Agreement
Last updated: 2026-08-18
This Agreement applies to your use of HandymanNow as a handyman, in addition to the general Terms of Service. It governs the relationship between you and HandymanNow ("HandymanNow").
1. Independent Contractor Status
You are an independent contractor, not an employee, agent, joint venturer, or partner of HandymanNow. Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment relationship. You are responsible for your own taxes, licensing, insurance, tools, and the manner in which you perform work for customers. HandymanNow does not direct or control the means and methods by which you complete a job.
2. Application and Approval
To accept jobs, you must submit an application (name, contact information, services and skills offered, service radius/area, availability, portfolio, and any required insurance/licensing documents) and be approved by HandymanNow. We may approve, reject, suspend, or reactivate your ability to go online and accept jobs, at our discretion, including for safety, quality, licensing, or policy reasons.
3. No Exclusivity
This Agreement is non-exclusive. You may perform similar work outside the App, for other customers or platforms, at your discretion.
4. Accepting and Performing Jobs
- You choose whether to accept any specific job offered to you; acceptance is atomic — once you accept, the job is assigned to you and removed from other handymen's offers.
- You are expected to honestly represent your progress on a job (preparing, on the way, arrived, working, completed) using the App's status controls, since the customer relies on this to know what's happening.
- You are responsible for performing the work you accept in a workmanlike, safe, and lawful manner.
5. Cancellation
See the Cancellation Policy for exactly when and how you may cancel an accepted job, and what happens if you do.
6. Licensing, Insurance, and Compliance
You are solely responsible for holding any license, permit, certification, or insurance required by law for the work you offer or perform. HandymanNow's approval process may request documentation of these but does not guarantee, warrant, or verify your legal authorization to perform any specific trade in your jurisdiction — that responsibility is yours.
7. Payment for Jobs; Lead Fees and Credits
HandymanNow does not currently process payment, invoicing, commissions, or tips for the work itself. How you arrange and receive payment from a customer for completed work, if applicable, is between you and the customer and outside the App at this time. HandymanNow does not currently take a commission on any job.
Separately from payment for jobs, you keep a payment method on file through our payment processor, Stripe, in order to unlock leads. Section 2.4 of the Privacy Policy describes what is sent to Stripe and what HandymanNow stores.
7.1 Your first 3 leads are free. From the fourth, unlocking a lead costs US $7.00, charged when you tap Unlock/Accept.
7.2 You must keep a valid payment method on file to unlock paid leads. A declined card means the lead is not released to you.
7.3 Account credit. Where a fee is returned, it is returned as credit toward your next lead, not as a cash refund. Credit is applied automatically before any card is charged.
7.4 Credit is granted when:
- (a) the Customer cancels within 15 minutes of your unlocking the lead, and you had not yet sent them a message, and the job had not progressed beyond `accepted`. This is applied automatically, with no request needed.
- (b) the lead is invalid - fabricated, an unreachable phone number, a non-existent address, a duplicate, or a Customer who cannot be contacted. Report it in the App; we aim to review within 48 hours.
7.5 Credit is not granted where you engaged with the lead - contacted the Customer, travelled, or invested time - and the job then fell through. That is a delivered opportunity, which is what the fee buys.
7.6 We may change the lead fee on 14 days' notice. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the new fee.
7.7 Receipts. Stripe sends you an emailed receipt automatically for each lead fee charged, to the email address on your account. Keep that address current - it is where your billing records are delivered.
8. Ratings and Standing
Customers may rate you after a completed job. Your approval status may be reviewed based on ratings, reports, disputes, and other signals of conduct or quality.
9. Conduct
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines and Safety Policy, including respectful conduct toward customers and not soliciting a customer to transact outside the App in a way that circumvents future platform features once introduced.
10. Suspension and Termination
HandymanNow may suspend or terminate your ability to use the App for violations of these terms, safety concerns, sustained poor ratings, fraudulent activity, or at our reasonable discretion. You may stop using the App, or delete your account, at any time (subject to having no active job).
11. Changes to This Agreement
We may update this Agreement as the App changes. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Agreement.
12. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Israel.
