Where the app helps with valley homes
South Bay houses range from repeated tract plans to Eichlers, association-run complexes and foothill lots. Each has a detail worth showing or telling the handyman ahead of the visit.
Complex entry, written down
Much of what San Jose has built since 1980 is condos, townhomes and apartments. Put the gate code, the visitor parking spot, your building number and the association's work hours in the app's messages, so the handyman is not stuck at the entrance trying to reach you.
Eichler walls and beams
Sunnyvale had the first Eichler tract anywhere, and Mountain View and San Jose followed. Glass walls leave little solid surface for a TV or shelves, so photograph the wall you have in mind and the beams above it, and note that heating tubes run through the floor.

Can I use the app for a condo with association rules?
Yes. Describe the job and attach photos as usual, then message the handyman the association's rules about quiet hours, noise and where contractors park. Work on the outside of the building or in shared areas often needs sign-off from the association, so check that before sending the request.
Is HandymanNow on Android in San Jose yet?

How do I know who is coming to my house?
Before anyone can take jobs in the app, their profile is reviewed. You can open the handyman's profile and reviews from homeowners, message them in the app with questions, and watch their status once they are on the way.
Can the handyman see my Eichler's problem before the visit?
Through photos, yes. Attach pictures of the sliding door, the beam or the wall when you describe the job, and add what you know about the slab heating. Anything else can go back and forth in the app's messages before they head over.
Do I owe HandymanNow anything?
No. The app is free for homeowners and has no payment step. Whatever the handyman charges for the work is agreed between the two of you directly, and after the job you can confirm it is done and leave a rating.
